Love to make these. Lately I have been substituting the sugars with Swerve brown sugar & Lakanto Monkfruit sweetener, and add 1/2 tsp of cinnamon. Additionally I use 1 tbsp of bourbon instead of water and add 1/4 tsp of vanilla extract. Positively received!
For those that are curious. I used truvia brown sugar blend and truvia scoopable sugar and it is wonderful, maybe just a little too sweet. I followed the recipe exactly but next time I will use less white and more cinnamon. The whole recipe divided by 8 servings is 298 Kcal as calculated by my fitness pal.
I had to tweak this recipe because I burned 2 batches! I always buy jumbo eggs so I used 1 jumbo egg white and omitted the tsp of water when whisking. I increased the brown sugar to 1/2 cup, the cinnamon to 1 tbsp and the pecans to 2 cups. I decreased the oven temp to 250, baked the nuts for 10 minutes, stirred them, and then baked for another 10 minutes. After removing them from the oven, I stirred the nuts again and let them cool before eating. YUM!
